Good planning is essential for the successful setup and use of your new server. It ensures that the you have everything you need and that you have met all the prerequisites for the server.

Planning activities include:
· New server installations
· Model upgrades
· Hardware modifications (feature additions, removals, conversions, or relocations)

To ensure that planning is completed successfully, a planning project manager is assigned who will provide a documented plan that includes:
· Timelines for the activities to be performed
· Major activity phases and the desired outcome
· List of responsibilities and person assigned
· Current system diagram and configuration listing
· End-system diagram showing hardware content and configuration details
